   June 29th, The Signing Ceremony of the Articles of Agreement of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank was held in Beijing. The authorized representatives of the 57 founding members of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank attended the signing ceremony; the 50 approved countries signed the agreement according to the domestic approval process. The other founding members, who are still waiting for the final approval, also witnessed the signing ceremony. Under the Agreement, the intended founding members can still sign the agreement by the end of the year.
   Chinese Finance Minister Mr. Lou Jiwei, as the Chinese authorized representative, signed the Agreement and delivered a speech at the ceremony. He said that after four professional and efficient negotiation and consultation sessions in late May, the 57 founding member countries finally agreed on the articles of the Agreement. This signing ceremony is another milestone in the preparation process for establishing the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, marking the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank preparatory work to enter the Agreement ratification and a new preparation stage of comprehensive operational readiness.
   Lou stressed that after the countries signed the Agreement, they still need the approval of their legislative bodies. Before the end of the year, they have to receive the approval in order to make the agreement effective, then the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank will be fully established. Next step is that all founding member countries will follow the previously agreed timetable and actively promote their domestic legislation approvals, including the completion of the ratification process, to ensure that the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank will be formally established by the end of the year and become fully functional as soon as possible.
   Chinese President Xi Jinping met with all delegation heads from different countries at the Signing Ceremony of the Articles of Agreement of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.
   President Xi Jinping on behalf of the Chinese government sent warm congratulations to the signing ceremony. Xi pointed out that China proposed establishing the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank to promote infrastructure development in Asian countries, further enhance interoperability, deepen regional collaboration and achieve common development. This initiative has received a positive response within and outside Asia. The signing of the Articles of Agreement of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank marked a historic step forward for the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. This move demonstrated all parties’ solemn commitment to the establishment of the Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank, reflecting the unity and cooperation among the parties through pragmatic actions and mutual support and common development.
   President Xi Jinping also stressed that based on the spirit of unity and open cooperation among all member countries, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank Agreement can be reached with such high quality. As long as we continue to uphold the spirit of multilateral cooperation, we will be able to build a more open and mutually beneficial platform in Asia and make more positive contributions to Asian infrastructure development.
